Deirdre's fans pick her specs.
Byline: ASHLEY BROADLEYCORONATION Street's Deirdre Rachid has a new look after fans chose trendy glasses for her.
She is famous for her trademark large frames but Corrie bosses decided she needed a change.
Fans were asked to vote on the ITV soap's website. More than 7,000 votes were cast and 1,750 opted for the winning specs.
Anne Kirkbride, who plays Deirdre, said: "Her last pair really were getting a bit dated.
"I'm delighted that web surfers and viewers chose this pair, which are very sleek for Deirdre.
"It will be strange wearing a different set but I'm sure viewers will quickly get used to the new look."
It is believed that Deirdre's old specs get broken in an incident with Dev Alahan, who she fancies, at the corner shop.
A Street spokeswoman said: "Deirdre looks every inch the designer's dream in her new frames and viewers should stay tuned to see if dishy Dev thinks the same."
